The most common mistake people make when scrapping a car is assuming the yard has told the DVLA for them. Until the DVLA knows, you are still the registered keeper.

- How much will I get for my car?
- Scrap vehicles are paid by weight, at a set rate per tonne, so a heavier vehicle is worth more than a lighter one regardless of age or condition. We pay more again for anything that still starts and drives, because the engine and gearbox are worth more to us working than as metal. Ring with the registration for a figure.
- Do you take non runners and vehicles with no keys?
- Yes. Non runners, MOT failures, insurance write offs, vehicles with no keys, flat tyres or no wheels at all are all fine. We recover them onto the truck. It does not need to be on a public road either, we can collect from a driveway, a yard or a workplace with the right permission.
- How far do you collect?
- Free collection anywhere within 40 miles of Rochdale. That covers all of Greater Manchester, most of Lancashire and into West Yorkshire, including Oldham, Bury, Bolton, Manchester, Huddersfield, Halifax, Burnley and Blackburn. You can also deliver the vehicle in to the yard yourself.
- How and when do I get paid?
- Same day, by instant bank transfer, once the vehicle is collected or delivered in. We do not pay cash. Paying cash for scrap metal has been illegal in England and Wales since the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, so any yard offering you cash is breaking the law.
- What paperwork do I need?
- Bring the V5C logbook if you have it and some photo ID. If the V5C is missing we can still take the vehicle, it just takes an extra step. We notify the DVLA and issue you a Certificate of Destruction, which is what legally ends your responsibility for the vehicle.
- Are you a licensed scrapyard?
- Yes. We are an Environment Agency Authorised Treatment Facility, licence EAWML/53593, and hold upper tier waste carrier registration CBDU155342. Only an ATF can legally issue a Certificate of Destruction, and only an ATF can depollute a vehicle properly.
